Communities are successfully reducing prostitution through this proven education and restorative-justice-diversion approach.

Veronica’s Voice Offenders Accountability Re-Education, or “Johnz School,” is an intensive, one-day, educational class. The approach brings about intervention for the demand side of prostitution. Attendees are court ordered. This is the only program that is fee-based at Veronica’s Voice. The fees for this program, which are paid by the “customer/john,” go directly to Veronica’s Voice (VV) and are used for all services and programs VV provides to the commercially sexually exploited women in our community.

JOHNZ SCHOOL OR THE OAR (OFFENDERS ACCOUNTABILITY RE-EDUCATION) PROGRAM

  • As an alternative to a conviction, first-time offenders arrested for patronizing prostitution not involving a minor are referred to the Johnz School as a condition of probation, diversion, or in lieu of prosecution.

  • One goal of the program is to show men how they are implicated in support of a brutal system and discourage further participation.

  • The fees collected from the Johnz School go back into Veronica’s Voice services and programming for victims, which provides tangible restorative justice.

  • Restorative justice programs move law enforcement, criminal justice and human services to a higher level

of performance in eliminating the tragic human consequences and high community cost of prostitution.

Communities are successfully reducing prostitution through this proven education and restorative-justice-diversion approach. The program is aimed at dramatically reducing recidivism among first-time arrested customers (known as “Johnz”). This and similar programs have been successful in helping women escape prostitution and step away from the criminal justice system’s revolving door once and for all.
